PICA is proud to have two major initiatives to support and advocate for the printing industry in North and South Carolina. They are similar yet have different goals.
Print Is
The PRINT IS campaign is an industry initiative designed to elevate the consumer’s perception and understanding of Print’s role in the marketplace. Our goals are to showcase Print’s value as a communication channel, and clarify and promote the versatility, effectiveness, sustainability and security of Print.

The three main campaign objectives are:
- Inform the market
- Increase demand
- Differentiate products
Vision Statement
The PRINT IS campaign seeks to remind the general public and corporate decision-makers of the power of Print to inspire action, generate healthy relationships, sustain our earth’s resources, and provide a clear channel for communication. You can learn more about Print IS here.
PrintForce
The printing industry in the Carolinas is experiencing rapid transformation due to automation, expanding technologies, and a retiring workforce. PrintForce, PICA’s workforce development initiative, outlines strategic actions to build a skilled, adaptable, and diverse workforce by partnering with educational institutions, industry stakeholders, and government/private agencies.

The four main objectives are:
- Support and train educators in high school and collegiate Graphic Communications programs, utilizing the PrintForce Educator Track at the PICA Fall Management Conference, The Print University, and resources found on this website.
- Promote and utilize the Resume Register, the job posting board, and social media open position posts to find members qualified individuals looking for work.
- Partner with schools, career counselors, and media to promote printing as a high-tech career utilizing the PrintIS print awareness campaign.
- Encourage printing companies to hire from graphic communications programs in secondary and post-secondary schools, and promote the benefits of hiring interns and creating apprenticeship programs.
